CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Designer I to join our Generation & Energy Management Team in Hartford, CT; Albany, NY; or St. Catharine’s, Ontario . In this role, you’ll support the design and development of electrical systems that power manufacturing and advanced technology facilities—contributing to solutions that enhance operational performance, energy efficiency, and long‑term reliability. Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology or a related technical field required
  • No prior experience required—related document production experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) and a willingness to learn about respective engineering discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Produce and revise simple engineering drawings and sketches for electrical substation and transmission design projects under the guidance of senior designers or engineers, following established technical standards
  • Examine drawings for accuracy and quality with support from senior team members
  • Participate in project review meetings and accompany senior staff on field assignments when appropriate
  • Utilize drawing production software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation to develop construction documents
  • Assist with contract document preparation to build familiarity with electrical design standards, codes, and best practices supporting energy ‑ intensive and technology ‑ driven facilities
