About The Position

The engineering student will work with the Production and Maintenance Engineers assigned to the project site. The position will be a mix of office activities and in-plant work, with responsibilities including, but not limited to, assisting with data collection, analysis, and design. Interns will gain firsthand knowledge and experience working in a chemical manufacturing plant with exposure to a variety of engineering disciplines and functional areas. The Electrical Engineering Co-Op will provide an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience at a chemical production facility in a part-time capacity while finishing their education. Successful applicants will be mentored by experienced engineers in their field on assignments that range from small capital projects to supporting day-to-day activities. In addition to the specific assigned projects / tasks, the student will have the opportunity to spend time interacting with various functions on site. Prior SI Group interns/co-ops have worked on projects such as: Field Verifications Electrical & Instrument design Daily Production Engineering Support Preventative Maintenance analysis Energy Improvement projects Construction Management (Capital project work) Safety/Health/Environment: It is required of the Engineering Intern to always be responsible for his/her own safety and the safety of others. Adhere to all applicable EH&S regulations and Engineering Standards. Participate as needed in safety audits, incident investigations, PHA/HAZOP studies. Ensure company and statutory EHS standards are maintained, including Responsible Care. Complete all assigned and required safety training in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Degree program must be Electrical Engineering
  • Completed a minimum of one year of a degree-granting four-year College or University (rising Juniors or Seniors preferred)
  • Must be 18 years or older, and be an active undergraduate/graduate in good academic standing
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Eligible for work within the US
