About The Position

WSP USA hosts hundreds of interns across the United States to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience to enhance their education and professional aptitude. Our co-ops gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. Through our Developing Professionals Network, co-ops gain mentorship, networking opportunities and lifelong career connections. Our Property & Buildings Team is seeking a Full-Time Electrical Engineering Co-op - Spring/Summer 2026 to work out of our Philadelphia, PA office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program through Drexel University. This co-op is anticipated to take place during the Spring and Summer 2026 semesters. The anticipated dates of this co-op are March 30th - September 18th as part of the Drexel Co-op Program. Start dates may be flexible.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related Undergraduate program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of October 2026 or later.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the Co-op.

Nice To Haves

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related Masters/PhD program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of October 2026 or later.
  • Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Prior co-op and/or internship and leadership involvement on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering and related disciplines including power distribution design and analysis, lighting design, analysis and controls, and low-voltage systems' design and analysis.
  • Become familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and electrical diagrams.
  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Learn Autodesk Revit to model Electrical, Lighting & Low Voltage components and systems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to develop engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Travel to job sites to survey and review existing buildings and construction progress through various stages of a project.
  • Become familiar with various engineering standards and codes.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Benefits

  • Compensation range of $19.13 - $30.00 per hour.
