This job description reflects potential openings for the Summer 2026 Co-op/Internship Session (May-August). This is a general job description and represents multiple openings in various departments. Honda offers both single and multi-semester co-ops and internships. College students must apply to the requisition pertaining to their major and semester of interest. Honda Co-operative and Learning Internships provide invaluable experience, with Co-ops/Interns tasked with hands-on, project-based work relevant to their department's current needs. Projects may include developing new tests, designing systems, traveling to suppliers, or serving as project managers. Co-ops/Interns are invited to participate in various paid work events and experiences offered by the Honda Co-op and Internship program team, including Q&A sessions with high-level associates, tours of Honda facilities, social events, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Focus on equipment, process, quality and new model activities related to the department of placement.
  • Project management.
  • Problem analysis.
  • Investigating new technologies and implementing countermeasures.
  • Learning and performing vehicle testing.
  • Conducting tests for chassis, brakes, controls, bonnet, trunk and/or door systems.
  • Testing procedures and fixtures.
  • New model development, drawing, layouts and design change requests.
  • Investigating and providing countermeasures for mass production design related issues.
  • Warranty data trend analysis.
  • Re-creating problem failures to determine root cause, develop countermeasures and perform confirmation testing.
  • Assessing supplier process capabilities.
  • Problem reporting and analysis.
  • Implementing countermeasures.
  • Verifying and judging effectiveness.
  • Investigating suspect part issues and approving part changes.

  • Designing manufacturing equipment and tooling in 2D and 3D CAD systems.
  • Determining equipment electrical hardware, software (PLC, HMI, etc.), safety requirements and appropriate design.
  • Managing a schedule and tracking daily processes.
  • Investigating and troubleshooting problems during installation and manufacturing.
  • Supporting the development of vehicle testing and countermeasure analysis.
  • Assisting design engineers in developing/designing of future models and supporting the creation of drawings.
  • Cost and weight calculations.
  • General Engineering Coursework.
  • Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA or higher.
  • Class status- Sophomore (by credit hour) or above.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 10 weeks at 40 hours per week.
  • Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program studying Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to and from work each day.
  • AutoCAD.
