The Electrical Engineer provides technical support to troubleshoot and solve problems impacting equipment reliability, to execute improvements in equipment performance, and to manage responsibilities for the design, installation, and start up of various projects in the plant. The position will also provide technical leadership on daily maintenance activities, perform incident investigations, achieve long-range goals by up-grading equipment and reduce costs in an effort to continuously improve processes and consistently establish the highest standards in the industry for safety, product quality, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 0-2 years experience including May 2026 graduates
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor and as part of a diverse team composed of fellow engineers, operations personnel, maintenance personnel, and leadership
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills
  • Challenges status quo to achieve better business results for the business
  • Ability to work on and balance multiple assignments and priorities
  • Must be able to perform work in a manufacturing plant environment including ascending/descending stairs/ladders
  • Computer proficiency in Windows based programs (word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the development of detailed job plans for instrument and equipment repairs/PMs.
  • Develop Engineering work packages for critical maintenance jobs and improvement projects.
  • Monitor/trend, identify, and develop solutions to E&I equipment issues (accuracy, high downtime, high maintenance cost &/or high quantity of repetitive failures).
  • Generate management of changes documentation for solutions to E&I equipment problems that deviate from original design.
  • Maintain instrument specs and area E&I drawings.
  • Perform incident investigations and participate in unit or area safety teams.
  • Provide technical support to production group with instrument and process issues.
  • Work closely with drafting personnel, production, and maintenance personnel, corporate engineering, and construction contractors.
  • Some on-call time periods may be incurred.
  • Manage the proper turnover of implemented control strategies to the customer, including; proper documentation and training of area personnel and follow-up for debugging/refinement.
  • Assist in managing the long term reliability efforts for the plant process control systems, including reliability tracking through Emerson, AMS/GE Merdidium as well as control system hardware and I/O reliability.
  • Compliance & safety related activities; promote site process safety and plant safety initiatives (EmPart, Behavior Base Safety, Unit Compliance, etc).
  • Lead interlock checks and be a primary resource providing troubleshooting guidance to Electrical and Instrumentation technicians.
  • Assists other plant engineers (production, process, electrical, project) and technicians as needed regarding instrumentation performance.
  • Supports and participates in root cause analysis, asset criticality analysis, and failure mode and effect analysis studies to improve reliability of the area equipment.
  • Assist with maintaining documentation related to process operation, safety, and applicable environmental regulations, as needed-including electrical drawing and engineering flow diagrams/P&ID diagrams.
  • Engages and promotes continued development of self and plant personnel with peer coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Comply with site safety rules and actively work to improve safety through coaching or engineered improvements.
