About The Position

As part of the I&E Controls Group, the Electrical Engineer shall design and engineer the electrical systems for generator solutions, compression packages, gas plants and provide support for Enerflex's engineering groups, from initial design to implementation of our package solutions and plant facilities for oil and gas industry. Enerflex's modular low voltage and medium voltage generator packages total installed MW at one site can exceed over 100 MW. Working with the electrical engineering team, the candidate would perform the necessary power studies, materials selection, and integration to produce a self-contained unit that is suitable for the customer's specific needs. The system design for Enerflex's packages involve typical low and medium voltage power distribution design, grounding design, power studies, cable, and tray design. Typical equipment includes specification and procurement of distribution transformers, E-houses, Switchgear, MCC's, UPS, Cable, and Tray (power and instrumentation). Work must be performed consistently with company mission and values and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering.
Strong knowledge of various electrical components including PLC hardware, MCCs, VFD's, electrical switchgear and motors.
Strong working knowledge and application of Electrical Codes (UL, NEC, IEC), including sizing of conductors, protection device selection, installation methods, and other code applications.
Minimum of 8 years' experience with power distribution circuits with voltages classified as LV, MV.
Minimum of 8 years' experience designing schematics for power distribution Single Line Diagrams, Motor Controls, industrial building electrical systems, and protection and control systems.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of using electrical engineering application software like ETAP to study relay coordination, load flow, short circuit, harmonic, and motor starting analysis is an asset.
Working experience on preparing engineering documents such as IOM, ITR & ITP list, Instrument datasheet, instrument layout, Control Narratives (Sequence flow chart, Sequence of Operation, Cause & Effect matrix), Cable schedule and Loop drawings.
Experience with Jenbacher engine, generator DIA.NE control panels, Waukesha ESMs, CAT ADEM/EMCP, and Cummins PowerCommand considered an asset.
Experience with generator packaging is an asset.
Experience with ICSS design is an asset.
Good analytical, engineering problem solving skills.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
Proficient with Microsoft Office application software.
Field commissioning and startup experience is a plus.
Travel may be required, up to 15%.
Knowledge in AutoCAD Electrical and CADWorx is a plus.

Responsibilities

Review and/or generate SOW (Statement of Work) created for the project and, as necessary, review Turn-in data created by Enerflex Applications group including customer specification.
Attend Internal and Customer Kick Off meetings.
Participate in Customer Kick Off Meeting and HAZOP meeting, as necessary.
Provide Squad Check for project P&IDs and electrical drawings considering SOW and Turn-in data.
Prepare LV and MV Single Line Diagrams.
Prepare electrical schematics/wiring diagrams for power distribution and controls.
Create load lists and perform electrical equipment sizing.
Perform emergency service, preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and offer operations instruction for industrial engine driven generators and associated controls systems.
Specify electrical equipment based on application of engineering judgement and electrical code and standards.
Review vendor equipment drawings and create interconnect drawings to ensure accurate connections and scope of supply is met.
Assist in the preparation of electrical construction drawings and specifications in conjunction with our in-house mechanical, architectural, and civil/structural design teams.
Prepare electrical construction scope of work documents for the purpose of obtaining proposals/bids from contractors.
Provide technical assistance for equipment integration and testing in our facilities and at customer's sites.
Support Control Designers in the development of wiring diagrams for Electrical systems, Control Panel and/or Junction Boxes as per project proposal, customer specification, and industry standards.
Review or Approve project wiring diagrams for Control Panels and/or Junction Boxes working with Control Designer and Project Engineer to meet project documentation delivery commitments.
Release project Bill of Material (BOM) and Control Panel or Junction Box to manufacturer and support fabrication questions/comments.
Support Project Engineer on Change Order costing and scope.
Support internal Control Panel Factory Acceptance Test.
Support Factory Acceptance Test in our systems with or without customers, generate and maintain FAT documentation including project punch list.
Responsible for the accuracy of final project documentation related to Automation / Electrical (As Built package).
Technical Support for Applications/Sales, Service and Retrofit groups. Support may include review of customer specifications and generate bid cost, support for Service technicians from the Office or in the field and training.
For some projects, provide on-site support for commissioning and start-up.
Contribute in Enerflex proprietary tools and software development for Automation/Electrical solutions.
Network and develop relationships with customers to further the Enerflex brand reputation and promise.
