About The Position

goTenna seeks a passionate, mission-driven, quality-oriented Electrical Engineer to join its engineering team. The Electrical Engineer will contribute to the design, development, testing, validation, and production release of RF electrical systems at goTenna. The Electrical Engineer provides electrical design and product development support as part of a cross functional development team that delivers high quality products to meet demanding customer requirements. This role is based locally in Jersey City, NJ, but we are open to a flexible working schedule which allows work to be done at home and on-site. Travel to meet with customers or visit our contract manufacturer should also be expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in an Electrical Engineering role.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and layout tools (Altium preferred).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, data acquisition systems, and programmable power supplies.
  • A strong grasp of electrical engineering fundamentals.

Nice To Haves

  • A portfolio of personal or school projects involving physical hardware.
  • Exposure to microcontroller based designs containing multiple hardware interfaces (GPIO, SPI, I2C, USART, and USB).
  • Knowledge of RF radio-communication, RF power and filter circuits, and antenna design.
  • Knowledge of power supplies, AC/DC and DC/DC converters, battery chargers.
  • Experience in electrical design and development of system level RF solutions.
  • Familiarity with a scripting language, especially Python.
  • Preference for working in the innovative, fast-paced environment of a startup.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to electrical hardware designs and system integrations for RF handheld radios, deployment charger systems, and test fixtures.
  • Perform board bring up, design verification, and product verification testing using standard lab equipment
  • Provide consulting and troubleshooting on technical problems that arise in product development, production, and fielded use.
  • Design and build cable harnesses for prototype builds
  • Perform fine-pitch soldering for prototype assembly and PCBA modifications
  • Ensure the electrical designs and system level solutions meet the intent of the requirements documents and marketing interfacing specifications.
  • Perform engineering calculations, measurements, analysis for new development verification and sustaining engineering work.
  • Write technical specifications and engineering test plans for product development.
