Electrical Engineer

About the position

As part of the I&E Controls Group, the Electrical Engineer shall design and engineer the electrical systems for modularized generator solutions, compression packages, gas plants and provide support for Enerflex's engineering groups, from initial design to implementation of our package solutions and plant facilities for oil and gas industry. Enerflex's modular low voltage and medium voltage generator packages generally range from 500KW to 5MW. Working with the electrical engineering team, the candidate would perform the necessary power studies, materials selection, and integration to produce a self-contained unit that is suitable for the customer's specific needs. The system design for Enerflex's packages involve typical low and medium voltage power distribution design, grounding design, power studies, cable, and tray design. Typical equipment includes specification and procurement of distribution transformers, E-houses, Switchgear, MCC's, UPS, Cable, and Tray (power and instrumentation). Work must be performed consistent with company mission and values and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Review SOW (Statement of Work) created for the project and, as necessary review Turn-in data created by Enerflex Applications group including customer specification.
• Assist the Internal Kick Off Meeting and generate the SOW for the project.
• Participate in Customer Kick Off Meeting and HAZOP meeting if necessary.
• Provide Squad Check for project P&IDs considering SOW and Turn-in data.
• Prepare LV and MV Single Line Diagrams.
• Prepare electrical schematics/wiring diagrams for power distribution and controls.
• Create load lists and perform electrical equipment sizing.
• Specify electrical equipment based on application of engineering judgement and electrical code and standards.
• Review vendor equipment drawings and create interconnect drawings to ensure accurate connections and scope of supply is met.
• Assist in the preparation of electrical construction drawings and specifications in conjunction with our in-house mechanical, architectural, and civil/structural design teams.
• Prepare electrical construction scope of work documents for the purpose of obtaining proposals/bids from contractors.
• Provide technical assistance for equipment integration and testing in our facilities and at customer's sites.
• Support Control Designer in the development of wiring diagrams for Electrical systems, Control Panel and/or Junction Boxes as per project proposal, customer specification and industry standards.
• Review or Approve project wiring diagrams for Control Panels and/or Junction Boxes working with Control Designer and Project Engineer to meet project documentation delivery commitments.
• Release project Bill of Material (BOM) and Control Panel or Junction Box to manufacturer and support fabrication questions/comments.
• Support Project Engineer on Change Order costing and scope.
• Perform internal Control Panel Factory Acceptance Test.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Test in our systems with or without customer, generate and maintain FAT documentation including project punch list.
• Responsible for generating and accuracy of final project documentation related to Automation / Electrical.
• Technical Support for Applications/Sales, Service and Retrofit groups. Support may include review customer specifications and generate bid cost, support for Service technicians from the Office or in the field and training.
• In some projects provide on-site support for commissioning and start-up.
• Contribute in Enerflex proprietary tools and software development for Automation/Electrical solutions.
• Network and develop relationships with customers to further the Enerflex brand reputation and promise.
• Model and champion Enerflex core values in ways that center team culture on these values.
• Abide by and promote the Enerflex HSE policy.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• Certificate in Hazardous Areas-Electrical (Classify, install, design for Hazardous Areas for Gas, Dust).
• Certificate Gas Engine Technology by Waukesha.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Instrumentation (selection, data sheet, procurement, testing).
• Minimum of 4 years' experience with various electrical components including MCCs, VFD's, electrical switchgear and motors.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience with Electrical Codes (UL, NEC, IEC), including sizing of conductors, protection device selection, installation methods, and other code applications.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience with power distribution circuits with voltages classified as LV, MV.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience designing schematics for power distribution Single Line Diagrams, Motor Controls, industrial building electrical systems, and protection and control systems.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience working on preparing engineering documents such as IOM, ITR & ITP list, Instrument datasheet, instrument layout, Control Narratives (Sequence flow chart, Sequence of Operation, Cause & Effect matrix), Cable schedule and Loop drawings.
• Experience with generator packaging is an asset.
• Experience with ICSS design is an asset.
• Good analytical, engineering problem solving skills.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office application software.
• Field commissioning and startup experience is a plus.
• Knowledge in AutoCAD Electrical and CADWorx is a plus.
