About The Position

Nova Space Solutions (NSS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Services Department team at NASA John C. Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. The ideal candidate will perform complex facilities and sitewide systems electrical design tasks, and provide technical support in compliance with current electrical industry and site standards. Work Model: Onsite/In-Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • 1-4 years of experience in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with using Allen Bradley controls software and Wonderware InTouch Visualization Software is a plus.
  • Experience in start-up and installation of data acquisition system.
  • Experience in working in Hazard Rated Areas, Class I, Division II, and Group B.
  • FE certification in the state of MS or LA is preferred, with desire to obtain PE within 1-4 years.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire.
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior knowledge of a NASA site or experience with working on government installations preferred.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple project activities simultaneously.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Windchill, and SKM is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Ability to present to large groups.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, designs, develops, installs, activates, operates, modifies and evaluates control systems hardware equipment, software or processes.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of standard control systems operations, development, testing, validation, safety standards, and concepts such as remote valve controls, safety and operational interlocks, etc.
  • Designs, plans, and oversees installation, activation, and operations of control equipment, components, and circuits for new and existing products.
  • Prepares plans and specifications for construction packages using design software and in conjunction with other project team members.
  • Provide Test Operations support with developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing procedures to verify functionality of control systems, sequencers, and control system components.
  • Develops design proposals and estimated cost of construction for completed designs.
  • Assists in the review of vendor/contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) to bring product design from the engineering phase to completed construction.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other organizations and engineering disciplines.
  • Must comply with all applicable safety and health-related policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report the status of all current design projects.
  • Conduct site visits with designers/drafters and other engineers to field verify as-builts, research site conditions, and develop project design strategies.
  • Responsible for reviewing/checking the designs, specifications, and costs estimates of electrical engineers that are part of our current team.
