About The Position

The Electrical Engineer position at the Department of the Navy's Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Northwest involves providing technical and strategic guidance for utility contract modifications, leading the deployment of processes to maintain and improve the quality of electrical utilities, and performing analyses of electrical engineering reports. The role requires a licensed Professional Engineer and entails occasional travel, with eligibility for part-time telework at management's discretion.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must have a current valid US driver's license.
  • Must have a current Professional Engineer's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must complete training and maintain a government credit card for travel-related purchases.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.

  • Experience with electrical utility systems programs/projects.
  • Knowledge of Navy Utilities and Energy Program initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and strategic guidance for utility contract modifications.
  • Review responses to RFIs and participate in negotiation processes as a technical evaluator.
  • Interpret Navy Utilities and Energy Program initiatives and provide guidance for implementation for electrical utilities.
  • Lead the deployment of processes to maintain and improve the quality of electrical utilities and services.
  • Perform and analyze results of Professional Engineer's reports for Short Circuit Coordination Studies and Arc Flash Studies using electrical analysis tools (SKM and ETAP).
  • Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art electrical engineering technologies and developments.
  • Provide technical reviews and recommendations for unique and complex electrical utility system problems.
