About The Position
At 1X, we are building humanoid robots that will take on the hardest real-world problems. This is not incremental engineering-it is high-stakes, first-principles design. Our team is small, flat, and relentlessly driven. We move fast, break down barriers, and expect every engineer to own entire systems end-to-end. Strong communication and a hands-on mindset are essential. As a Hardcore Electrical Engineer, you will push the boundaries of what's possible in robotics. You'll design and integrate electrical systems that operate at the edge of performance, reliability, and manufacturability-ensuring that every component, layout, and system meets the demands of advanced humanoid robotics.
Responsibilities
- Architect power electronics and distribution for high-actuation, high-density humanoid robots
- Design advanced PCB layouts for sensing, actuation, and compute modules under extreme constraints
- Build real-time embedded systems using microcontrollers and high-speed digital interfaces
- Debug, characterize, and optimize across thermal, EMI, and signal-integrity domains
- Develop rapid prototypes, validation rigs, and custom tools to accelerate iteration
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and AI teams to bring robots to life
