About The Position

In the role of Electrical Engineer - Power Generation, we'll count on you to: Have experience within the utility scale power and renewable energy industry and be capable of supporting power generation design projects including leading multiple design and engineering project or administration tasks simultaneously. Experience in power generation and distribution, renewable energy, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems. Interest or experience in the exciting market of renewables and battery energy storage systems (BESS) is very desired. Mentor junior engineers, client relationship development, and supporting marketing activities, such as proposal technical writing, fee builds, and development of work breakdown structure is desired. A level of design and engineer of record work experience with power plant systems is required. Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
• Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software.

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity.
• Protection and control design experience including setting calculations and electronic files development.
• Instrumentation and Controls experience particularly with DCS and PLC systems.
• Field experience, including startup and commissioning.
• Experience in renewable energy (PV, BESS, etc.) and DER or 'microgrid' projects.
• Previous experience with an engineering power consulting firm.
• Willingness to grow into a team lead or section manager role.
• Knowledge and experience with three-phase electrical power, protection and control design, system grounding, physical design, and experience with other activities such as lighting and grounding design.
• Capable computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software.

Responsibilities

• Support power generation design projects including leading multiple design and engineering project or administration tasks simultaneously.
• Conduct power generation and distribution, renewable energy, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and develop client relationships.
• Support marketing activities such as proposal technical writing and fee builds.
• Perform design and engineer of record work experience with power plant systems.
• Conduct work sessions and project meetings, and participate in reviews at the project site.
• Develop project schematic design and contract document phase of a project.
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, COs, and JSAs.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Engineers, Project Coordinators or Designers.
