About The Position

As an Electrical Power Generation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop electrical drawing deliverables including one line and three line diagrams, electrical motor schematics, breaker control schematics, and wiring diagrams. You will also be responsible for power cable sizing and cable schedules, as well as complex engineering calculations such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting (ETAP or SKM), Arc flash analysis (ETAP or SKM), protective relay settings, and battery and charger sizing. Additionally, you will develop electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction, attend meetings, investigate existing conditions, interface with clients, and provide support during construction. This position requires extensive use of Microsoft Office business systems, electrical engineering software such as ETAP, and Computer Aided Drafting Tools such as AutoCAD to view and manipulate engineering drawing files.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from either a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification, and in pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Engineering consulting design experience in LV/MV Conventional Power Generation.
  • Familiarity with applicable NEC and IEEE/ANSI standards.
  • Experience with electrical equipment including MV and LV switchgear, transformers, panel boards, breakers, protective relays, inverters, batteries, and cables.

Responsibilities

  • Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and procedures.
  • Prepares a variety of increasingly complex engineering deliverables.
  • Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
  • Prepares increasingly complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Recognizes, defines and resolves problems within assigned area.
  • Provides direction and guidance to others.
  • Assigns tasks to develop entry level professionals and interns.
  • Coordinates with project leadership and other internal/external team members on less complex projects.
  • Interacts as needed with other disciplines on details of design work.
  • Works to understand external client's interest and drivers through regular interaction and communication.
  • Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
  • May assist with performance management process, recognition, and any corrective actions required.
  • Actively mentors entry level professionals and interns.
