Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics

About The Position

As an Electrical Engineer at Marathon Fusion, you'll work closely with our R&D team of mechanical engineers, physicists, and technicians to prototype, test, and deploy solutions in the pursuit of advancing fusion fuel cycles. From PBC design to testing high-voltage, high-current systems, you'll play a pivotal role in developing robust power electronics for our Plasma Centrifuge and Transmutation R&D efforts.

Requirements

  • Experience with power electronics design
  • Experience with PCB design and layout tools
  • Strong fundamentals in circuits, electromagnetics, and system design
  • Hands-on experience building and testing hardware
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading or mentoring in electrical engineering settings
  • Familiarity with compact high-voltage and/or high-power systems -- large-scale capacitors, DC-DC converters, battery energy storage systems, power transmission and high power DC power supplies
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, Python, or similar tools for interacting with control and data acquisition systems

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop power electronics subsystems, including capacitor banks, battery systems, power conversion, and switching.
  • Design, prototype, and test PCBs for experimental systems.
  • Integrate power electronics into high-voltage and high-current systems at the platform level.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers, controls engineers, physicists, and technicians to build and integrate electrical systems into experimental platforms.
  • Test, validate, and troubleshoot hardware in lab environments.
  • Drive safe design practices for high-energy systems.
