About The Position

Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels. In this role, you will use your interdisciplinary skills to create compelling electrolysis plant power distribution designs, specify and manage power distribution hardware, and ensure smooth plant integration. You will be able to use your creativity and experience to translate product requirements into electrical engineering designs that consider equipment performance, reliability, deployment costs, control interfaces, compliance, and electrical safety. We are looking for a self-motivated team player with unique viewpoints excited to build a new generation of electrolysis equipment! You will be based onsite in San Jose, CA with allowable hybrid work schedule. Remote positions may be considered depending on candidate qualifications. You will report to Director, Product Engineering.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering; related degrees may be considered
  • 5-7+ years experience industrial plant electrical distribution design (Skidded/Modular Preferred)
  • 2+ years’ experience commissioning, operating, or maintaining plant electrical hardware in an onsite setting
  • You are ambitious and use data to drive design decisions
  • You are an effective consensus builder and communicator
  • You seek and refine product requirements for your designs at all stages
  • Hazardous Locations (Class 1 Div. 2/Zone 2)
  • 100 Hp+ electric motor controls and various industrial starter/control schemes (pumps, fans)
  • Excellent 2D and 3D CAD skills (AutoCAD Electrical Preferred)
  • You have a pragmatic approach towards design for ease of installation and maintenance
  • Thermal management of electrical power distribution systems (HVAC, Solar heat gain, etc.)
  • Proficiency in ETAP or SKM electrical design & simulation software (ETAP preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70/NEC, IEEE and IEC Codes and Standards
  • Product Certification Experience preferred (e.g. UL Listing, Field Certification)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with plant engineering, instrumentation & controls engineering, power systems engineering, and suppliers to develop AC power distribution systems for plant equipment
  • Manage the plant electrical BOM. Coordinate 3D Models. Export BOMs/MTO for procurement and fabrication purposes.
  • Create & review plant electrical drawings (e.g. Single Line Diagrams, Installation Details)
  • Perform electrical equipment sizing calculations sizing in accordance with code, while using first principles to challenge the status quo
  • Support reliability engineering of plant electrical hardware
  • Interpret P&IDs, vendor schematics, and other drawings typical of the process industry
  • Develop specifications for plant backup power systems, including generators and control voltage uninterruptible power supply hardware
  • Manage outside vendors for electrical distribution equipment design (Panelboards, MCCs)
  • Generate inputs to Maintenance and Quality Plans for plant electrical equipment
  • Design for the effects of EMI and EMC compliance for plant electrical systems
  • Design & review plant grounding and bonding systems
  • Define and execute fundamental electrical engineering studies (e.g. Load Flow, Grounding, Relay Coordination)
  • 20% travel to contractor, vendor, and customer sites mostly domestic
