The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the Electrical discipline at a project level and managing the project discipline budget on simple to complex projects of all sizes. This position requires a thorough understanding of the development and field implementation of Electrical documents through all project phases. The successful candidate possesses the ability to coordinate with internal and external parties, manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others. This position may work independently or at the direction of the Project Manager. The successful candidate is responsible for directing, executing and managing the workflows and execution of electrical design and engineering support personnel (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals. The Lead Electrical Engineer focuses on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, special systems (e.g., telephone/ data, security, fire alarm), raceway, cable tray, and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment. The individual possesses demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others. The successful candidate will coordinate with internal and external architects and engineers, as well as clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers. Typical tasks and deliverables that are executed by or supervised by the Lead Electrical Engineer include power load, illumination, short circuit and voltage drop calculations; basis of design reports; code evaluations; one-line diagrams; plans; schedules; installation details; specifications; and coordination with manufacturers and construction trade partners. Tasks will include utilizing software for building information modeling, computer-aided drafting and engineering calculations. The successful candidate possesses the ability to provide mentoring and training on intermediate to advanced electrical design and engineering topics. Project work includes directing design activities for all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration.
