About The Position

As an experienced engineer within Wabtec Bus Solutions, you will drive design and development focused on a mix of controls, harnesses, and other electrical systems for doors, ramps, lifts, charging, and other bus-related product lines. Reporting to the Engineering Manager or Supervisor, you will design and develop electrical based systems, contribute to product development, and ensure compliance with engineering standards. Your role will include collaborating with peers, supporting design decisions, and executing engineering tasks aligned with project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering (master’s preferred; ABET-accredited) and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Basic project management skills and ability to lead engineering based small sized projects or parts of projects.
  • Experience with the development of electrical based systems in transportation and working knowledge of electrical design of systems and components including engineering & manufacturing principles, practices, and procedures
  • Working knowledge in APQP/NPD Stage Gate, DFMEA, RCA/8D’s, DFM/DFA, Engineering Analysis, & Hand Calculations
  • Familiarity in Poka-Yoke, PPAP, VAVE, Lean Six Sigma, DOE
  • Designed PCBs for motor control, I/O, and embedded systems and familiar with transportation electrical systems, schematics, and topologies
  • Strong skills in electrical testing, troubleshooting, and prototype development and deep knowledge of DC motors, relays, and contactors.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems per customer and technical requirements and make design decisions to optimize performance, cost, and manufacturability
  • Contribute to innovation, patents, or process improvement and support electrical designs from concept through production launch
  • Participate in DFMEA sessions and validation planning
  • Follow APQP/NPD processes to ensure successful product launches and lead or support root cause analysis and corrective actions for electrical issues

  • Evaluate specifications and performance needs to deliver cost-effective solutions and collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain for DFM/DFA alignment

  • Analyze test results to improve product reliability and performance and support Sales and Field Service in resolving customer issues
