About The Position

This Electrical Manufacturing engineer position within the Operations team will be technically mentored by the Electrical Engineering team. Daylight manufactures complex digital and analog electronics systems. We are looking for a self-driven electrical engineer motivated to perform a wide variety of functions from hands-on reworks to design contributions. This person will become technically familiar with Daylight's commercial laser systems as well as manufacturing's electrical tooling and processes. This engineer is expected to lead projects through determined scope and schedule, especially as relates to failure analysis and resolution, working closely with the Electrical Engineering team and with the Quality and Production teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Strong capability to read circuit diagrams and troubleshoot hardware failures
  • Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge
  • Ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Basic CAD and simulation experience preferred
  • Production line work experience preferred
  • Quick, hardworking learner who is able to work with minimal supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to network with co-workers

Responsibilities

  • Own resolving electrical issues encountered by Daylight's commercial production lines (electrical tooling, product harnesses, and product board assemblies)
  • Perform failure analysis and when appropriate lead corrective actions on faulty electronic components, assemblies or test setups discovered at receiving inspection or during laser system builds.
  • Perform electronics reworks when outside vendor services have lead times too long relative to business needs
  • Prototype harnesses and perform board testing for Electrical Engineering's in-development products
  • Document in detail test setups and testing protocols
  • Develop and maintain Production work instructions for electrical assemblies when new products are transitioned to Production
  • Contribute to the design and development of test fixtures and procedures to improve production processes
  • Assist debugging new firmware / software releases from a hardware perspective
  • Assemble and acceptance test low volume electrical products manufactured under Engineering supervision
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
