About The Position

Electrical engineering focuses on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, and special systems, e.g., data, security, fire alarm, raceway, cable tray and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment. Typical tasks and deliverables include power load, illumination, short circuit, and voltage drop calculations; basis of design reports, code evaluations; single line diagrams; plans; schedules; installation details; specifications; and coordination with manufacturers and construction trade partners. Tasks will include utilizing computer aided drafting and engineering software.

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred
  • Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations, and developing and implementing electrical lighting, power, and special systems designs
  • Ability to interface with client and external partners
  • Ability to travel as for client development and project execution
  • Fundamental experience conducting field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting
  • Proficient at fundamental electrical design calculations under the supervision of an engineer

Responsibilities

  • The Electrical Engineer I is responsible for basic lay out electrical systems in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Conducts basic field investigations to integrate the design with existing systems and structures.
  • Work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as, other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design.
  • Works on matters of basic complexity in a support role under the direction of more experienced Electrical Engineers.
  • This role is expected to self-check one’s own work.
  • May work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor.
  • Project work may include all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
