The Electrical Engineer is responsible for planning and executing projects related to the testing of Vista products. S&C’s Custom Engineering organization designs Engineer-To-Order solutions for a portfolio of products including Manual, Remote Supervisory, and Source-Transfer Vista for a wide range of customers including electric utilities and industrial/ commercial power users. In this job, you will report to the Manager – Custom Engineering.
Requirements
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Experience in design and drafting of electrical schematics and interconnection diagrams for low voltage control circuits
- Proficiency in the use of CAD systems, preferably Zuken, MicroStation, SolidEdge, or AutoCAD
- Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design and manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical abilities with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Outstanding problem-solving skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience in, or working knowledge of, medium voltage switching, and protection products and systems is not required but is a plus
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or creation of Excel macros using VBA is a plus
Responsibilities
- Designing switchgear control systems and metering circuits to meet specific customer application requirements using S&C automation products
- Designing panel layouts, wire harness, cable assemblies, and generating Bills of Materials
- Specifying low voltage electrical components including protection relays, RTUs, communication devices, and instrument transformers.
- Defining requirements and writing custom instructions for production testing of control circuits
- Generating supplementary instruction sheets that describe the operation of control circuitry
- Participating in cross-functional design teams to ensure customer needs are satisfied through high-quality product designs that are delivered in a timely manner
- Providing engineering support to a team of mechanical and electrical designers and acting as a technical resource for problem-solving activities in both design and production processes
