About The Position

As a mid-level Electrical Engineer in the Utility Substations group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be responsible for supporting client projects and providing a quality deliverable that is on time and within the defined budget. This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred.
  • Experience: 1 – 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
  • Licensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with substation electrical design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Good interpersonal and people skills.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs detailed design on all aspects of substation electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
  • Prepares computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility and industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, power factor, harmonic analysis, and other related studies.
  • Develops protective relay settings.
  • Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies.
  • Provides field assistance and troubleshooting.
  • Checks the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required.
  • Understands the applications of relevant Codes and Standards.
  • Assists with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
