We design, develop, document, deploy, and support COTS (commercial off the shelf)-based and custom designed systems, which use the power of the network to share information and aid in decision-making. These systems allow end users to protect people and property. As an entry level Hardware Systems Engineer you will join our Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering Team as part of our Avionics business. We are seeking an electrical/systems engineer who is looking for an opportunity to join a team supporting the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. This opportunity offers a combination of classic design techniques, modern electronics knowledge, and hands on laboratory skills. Looking for a Summer 2026 Hire (May/June start date). Must obtain degree by May 2026.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical Engineer Degree preferred or equivalent
  • Experience designing with COTS devices
  • Knowledge of Linux and Solaris operating systems
  • Experience using lab tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, analyzers, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Work on a small team of hardware development engineers in support of Engineering Change Proposals
  • Assist in identifying potential replacement COTS (commercial off the shelf) candidates, conducting a trade study with potential devices, and choosing the device that best meets the requirements
  • Work together to perform preliminary and detailed design activities
  • Conduct testing activities in the lab in support of Engineering Change Proposals. Testing includes device-level bench testing as well as integration testing in the system as a whole
  • Interface with other disciplines (Configuration Management, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain) in support of product development
