About The Position

The Electrical Engineer/Estimator position at Shambaugh & Son L.P. involves working with a nationally recognized Design-Build team to assist in the design, estimation, and construction of food manufacturing facilities and industrial refrigeration projects across the United States. The role includes responsibilities such as collaborating with clients and design consultants, preparing electrical design plans, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and budgets. Qualified candidates may also be considered for a Program Management position, serving as the team lead and primary customer contact for projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree/experience.
  • 5+ years of work experience in electrical design.
  • Experience in the design and construction of industrial, food manufacturing, and/or cold box facilities.
  • Prefer a Professional Engineer license in Indiana or Idaho.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and codes.
  • Ability to assemble bid set (RFP) drawing packages.
  • Ability to liaise with third-party electrical design professionals as required.
  • Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines.
  • Experience with subcontractor management.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate with customers on remote sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer license in Indiana or Idaho.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with clients, outside design consultants, and internal engineers during conceptual and final design to develop electrical design plans, specifications, and narratives.
  • Complete both conceptual and detailed take-offs of electrical scopes to be incorporated into the overall project budget or Guaranteed Maximum Price.
  • Assist management with the identification, prequalification, and bidding of electrical scopes of work as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate construction materials are incorporated into designs and conduct thorough reviews of consultant designs and subcontractor/vendor shop drawings to ensure design intent is met.
  • Provide technical advice to other members on the Design-Build team.
  • Assist project management staff in obtaining local planning and/or regulatory approval for electrical scopes.
  • Monitor and inspect work undertaken by subcontractors and/or internal trades.
