About The Position

The Sensor Systems Analysis and Engineering Portfolio at Leidos is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team in the development of cutting-edge EO/IR sensor systems. This role is critical in supporting the design, integration, and testing of advanced electronic systems that enhance our capabilities in defense and aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering principles and a passion for innovative technology along with interest or exposure to development or integration of electro-optical technology. Our program focuses on the development of state-of-the-art EO/IR sensor systems that are integral to modern defense solutions. These systems are designed to provide enhanced target detection and tracking capabilities, ensuring superior performance in various operational environments. As part of our team, you will contribute to the advancement of technologies that protect and serve and work alongside a skilled team of engineers, scientists, and software developers to design and develop new and existing solutions to support future fielded systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical system design, development, and testing.
  • Proficiency in circuit design, simulation, and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, SPICE).
  • Strong understanding of electronic components and systems, including sensors and signal processing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be a resident or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. (U.S. Citizenship required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with infrared sensor technology and seeker systems.
  • Familiarity with military standards and regulations related to defense systems.
  • Knowledge of software programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python) for embedded systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Current DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test electrical components and systems for EO/IR sensor system applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software solutions.
  • Conduct system-level testing and validation to ensure compliance with performance specifications.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot electrical issues, providing timely solutions to enhance system reliability.
  • Document design processes, test results, and technical specifications for project records.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
