About The Position

The Electrical Engineer - EIT will support the planning, design, and construction of electrical systems for municipal and industrial water and wastewater facilities. The role offers exposure to a variety of technical areas, from power distribution and controls to SCADA and communications, while working under the mentorship of experienced professional engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (FE passed).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or Plant 3D.
  • Working knowledge of SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower software.
  • Understanding of AGi32 or Visual Lighting programs.
  • Strong grasp of standard engineering principles, design practices, and documentation standards.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 820, NFPA 70E, and ISA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a technical, problem-solving environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or prior design experience in water/wastewater or related infrastructure projects.
  • Experience preparing construction drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to accurately estimate electrical design efforts and construction costs.
  • Field experience supporting construction administration, including review of submittals and inspections.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing professional licensure (PE).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of low- and medium-voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, SCADA and process control systems, voice/data communications, fiber optics, UPS, security, CCTV, and fire alarm systems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to support electrical designs from concept through construction.
  • Modify and review production drawings for water, wastewater, and industrial projects under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support the preparation of electrical studies including power supply, short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash analyses.
  • Conduct field inspections, site measurements, and assist with calculations for public and private sector clients.
  • Develop cost estimates and electrical construction documents at various project stages.
  • Provide assistance during construction, including reviewing submittals, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), and evaluating change orders.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary collaboration with other engineering groups.
  • Learn from senior engineers through mentorship while refining your technical design and problem-solving skills.
