About The Position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Data Center Electrical Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to act as front line when it comes to hands-on electrical equipment troubleshooting. This opportunity will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment such as stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems that include but not limited to switchgear, UPS units, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

Requirements

  • Active TS//SCI POLY
  • Must have at least a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience working in data centers with an emphasis on operation and maintenance in data center infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical systems, backup generators, and fire suppression systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the electrical systems involved in critical data center operations such as: feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) units, Power Distribution Units (PDUs).
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for data centers, including power distribution, backup power, and grounding systems.
  • Perform load calculations, fault analysis, and power quality assessments to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, IT professionals, and facility managers, to integrate electrical systems with other data center components.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations, such as NEC, IEEE, and local building codes.
  • Lead incident response efforts to resolve facility-related issues, including power outages, cooling failures, and environmental alarms. Implement corrective actions swiftly to minimize downtime.
  • Provide on-call support during off hours for the assigned data centers. This will include responding to any issues within the data centers and managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue.
