About The Position

The Electrical Engineer Intern or Co-Op position at Schneider Electric in Cedar Rapids, IA, offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product development and manufacturing processes. The role involves ensuring compliance with design guidelines, supporting equipment specifications, and participating in problem-solving for manufacturing and quality issues. Interns will work closely with senior engineers and have visibility into various cross-functional areas, contributing to a significant business critical to Schneider Electric's operations.

Requirements

  • Current student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, LabVIEW/TestStand, and Microsoft Office.
  • Motivated self-starter able to work on multiple projects in parallel with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to accuracy and details.
  • Strong communication skills to align and collaborate with all functions throughout the design center.
  • Ability to work 17.5-40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assure compliance to manufacturability, assembly and test guidelines in product designs through early involvement in the product development process.
  • Support in developing product test and equipment specifications.
  • Support in the development and execution of equipment and process qualification plans.
  • Hands-on execution of manufacturing prototype and pilot runs in Schneider facilities, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
  • Hands-on involvement in the design, deployment, and qualification of specified test equipment.
  • Prepare and give input to detailed task-driven schedules for equipment development.
  • Actively participate in problem-solving of manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Investigate new technologies and solutions to prepare for review with senior engineers.
