About The Position

Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Advanced Technology & Capabilities (ATC) Engineering seeks an Electrical Engineer to join the Disruptive Systems Technology Team. Our cross-discipline team solves defense customers’ toughest problems through rapidly developing, integrating, and demonstrating systems that employ cutting-edge signal processing and networking innovations. We pride ourselves on creativity, facing challenging and complex problems head on, and pushing the limits of the possible – all to provide the Warfighter with the most responsive and disruptive capabilities that navigate the intersection of communications; position, navigation & timing (PNT); cyber space; and other radio frequency (RF) systems. ATC focuses on cutting-edge Department of Defense research and development projects. As an ATC engineer, you will continually advance the state of the art through the creation of innovative system concepts and technological capabilities. As concepts / capabilities are proven, matured, and demonstrated, you will collaborate with business unit engineers in the adoption and transition of technologies into the next generation of Collins Aerospace products and services. Within a group of highly innovative engineers, this role provides leadership over low TRL (Technology Readiness Level <6) programs to ensure all the key performance characteristics are consistently met and that valuable IP is captured and protected as part of the Invention Disclosure process. The effective candidate will have experience both capturing pursuits and bringing the program’s vision to reality, including technical leadership and execution. This role is onsite, in Cedar Rapids, IA. This role may be eligible for relocation.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Digital Signal Processing, FPGAs, embedded processors, communications and radar systems.
Familiar with design and simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink.
Familiar with algorithm development, simulation, and implementation using tools such as VHDL, Python and C/C++.
Familiar with embedded systems and software/hardware integration and in software development, test, and deployment in languages such as Python and C/C++.
Familiar with Object Oriented Design/Development and multithreading and with Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning concepts.

Responsibilities

You will assist in design and development of innovative solutions for communication, navigation, radar and electronic warfare applications.
You will collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering
You will collaborate closely across multi-disciplinary teams to rapidly identify and implement innovative, effective solutions.
You will contribute to technical presentations that articulate design approaches and their relevance to project objectives.
