About The Position

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security. To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking an Electrical, Avionics Drafter level I, II, or Sr to support design, integration, testing, and maintenance of one of our carrier or hypersonic vehicles electrical and avionics systems; as an Electrical, Avionics Drafter you will be responsible for the following: Develop engineering documentation including Drawing Trees, Block Diagrams, Interface Control Documents (ICD), Wiring Diagrams, and Harness drawings following industry drafting standards (ASME.Y14) Develop and maintain system and sub-system drawing packages Plans, layouts, draws, and revises detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts referencing Stratolaunch and Aerospace Industry Standards (drawing note call outs) Understanding of how Electrical and Mechanical components interact in larger systems (details, sub-assemblies, main assemblies, Next Higher Assemblies) Incorporate redlines from the engineering design team and hanging redlines from completed manufacturing work Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, NX, CATIA, Mentor Graphics Develop process improvement documentation to establish to define engineering drafting current practices Liaison engineering support in the electrical shop to provide technicians with sufficient support to complete the task on hand, as required Breakdown engineering released documentation to better understand the intent Redline released engineering drawing documentation Ability to understand a broad range of technical data, interact with different disciplines involved in the design, purchasing, manufacturing, integration, and testing of our vehicle(s). Candidates must have an aerospace development background and relevant experience in aerospace systems integration.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, one or more of these disciplines: electrical engineering, avionics, experimental aircraft and/or launch vehicle integration
  • Experience with Aerospace production documentation (drawings and work orders)
  • Experience with PDM systems, Engineering control and revision control release processes
  • Experience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft electrical power systems
  • Familiarity with common aerospace hardware such as connectors, relays, and wire types
  • Direct hands-on experience with aircraft electrical system installation and best practices
  • Facilitation skills and ability to communicate technical challenges and guidance to varied audiences to gain support or resolve concerns
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and prioritize tasking to fit within the business goals
  • Complex aerospace system development
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics
  • Familiar with concept and applications following Drafting Standards per ASME Y14
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Security clearance
  • Experience as a CAD parts librarian (Preferred: Mentor Graphics)
  • 3D CAD modeling experience – NX, CATIA, or Solidworks
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems – Jira (preferred)
  • Familiar with concept and applications following GD&T per ASME Y14.5

Responsibilities

  • Create Engineering documentation to facilitate production manufacturing efforts for Avionics subsystems (Electrical and Mechanical)
  • Create drawings for tooling that supports the build phase of a production effort
  • Reference 3D CAD models and integrate into 2D environments.
  • Create part and assembly level drawings with proper application of GD&T, as required
  • Develop test plans and procedures, as required
  • Support Avionics design effort, as required
  • Regular and comprehensive communication to leadership
  • Contribute to the integration of complex aerospace systems
  • Travel, as needed, to support the department
  • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments
