About The Position

This role is a launch‑critical electrical technical leader responsible for ensuring flawless execution of vehicle electrical systems during new product introductions and sustained plant operations. The individual owns electrical build readiness and issue resolution by leading data‑driven problem solving, maintaining the Plan for Every Connector, and ensuring clear, timely communication across plant teams. With launch as the primary focus, this role is deeply engaged in startup activities, change management, and rapid containment of electrical issues to protect quality metrics and the customer experience. The position requires close collaboration with Manufacturing Software Integration, Product Engineering, and suppliers while learning and applying GM’s next‑generation Electrical Architecture and Software Defined Vehicle technologies. Success in this role is defined by strong technical ownership, independent decision‑making, and visible impact during high‑pressure launch environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Or Minimum 3+ years of hands‑on experience supporting automotive electrical systems in a manufacturing, launch, or plant operations environment.
  • Demonstrated experience driving electrical quality performance using plant metrics such as EFTQ, DRR, GCA, or equivalent manufacturing quality indicators.
  • Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and software‑related vehicle issues, including root cause, containment, and validation.
  • Working knowledge of electrical diagnostics and manufacturing tools, such as trim testers, continuity testers, plant diagnostic systems, and standard problem‑solving methods.
  • Ability to make timely, high‑confidence technical decisions in fast‑paced launch and production environments with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable guidance for non‑technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting new vehicle launches, including startup, change management, and early build issue resolution.
  • Familiarity with Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) and modern automotive electrical architectures.
  • Prior experience partnering with Manufacturing Software Integration, Product Engineering, Quality, or Suppliers to resolve complex vehicle issues.
  • Experience developing or delivering technical training for production, quality, or repair teams.
  • Knowledge of electrical error‑proofing techniques, harness routing optimization, or process robustness improvements.
  • Proficiency with GM or equivalent industry systems such as GSIP, GDS2/MDI, PRTS, SPPS, or similar manufacturing and diagnostic platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead plant‑level electrical issue identification, containment, and resolution by analyzing data, performing root cause investigations, and driving corrective actions through cross‑functional teams.
  • Own electrical change management on the plant floor by reviewing, approving, and documenting changes to ensure no negative impact to electrical quality, assembly, or vehicle performance.
  • Drive electrical error‑proofing, harness routing improvements, and process robustness by leveraging testing equipment, validation trials, and production feedback loops.
  • Serve as the electrical subject‑matter expert for plant systems, repairs, and diagnostics, ensuring standardized repair execution, accurate documentation, and proper use of diagnostic tools.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing Software Integration, Product Engineering, suppliers, and quality teams to support software validation, diagnostics, and resolution of complex electrical issues.
  • Travel up to 25% to support supplier visits, launch readiness activities, and collaboration with other GM manufacturing plants.
