The position involves the application of general design practices, where the individual will select and recommend procedures in design and prepare preliminary designs for the Engineer’s approval. The role includes performing non-routine and complex assignments that involve responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. The individual will select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, and coordinate the work, while also reviewing, analyzing, and integrating the technical requirements and design approaches. Additionally, the position requires reviewing work for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. The skills required are heavily focused on electrical design, but a working technical knowledge of other discipline design requirements is also necessary. The individual may be designated as the technical services design checker on assigned projects and must be capable of coordinating with others within their discipline to successfully complete project assignments. Field support is also a key aspect of the role, including field verifications for retrofit applications, as-built documentation, on-site procurement, and installation supervision.
