Electrical Designer
About The Position
This role is responsible for leading and producing detailed electrical drawings using AutoCAD. Projects will vary in size and complexity and may involve working independently or as part of a multi disciplined team that includes project managers, design engineers, drafting designers, and drafters. Prepare accurate and complete drawings using practical design knowledge Coordinate with other disciplines and assist the lead engineer and or designer to ensure a quality product Conduct field investigations as needed and produce field reports with detailed sketches Stay current on new design processes, modeling, drafting techniques, and standards Recommend improvements in design standards to help lower cost, improve work quality, and support maintenance Investigate and resolve unusual design and field engineering problems by applying new or existing criteria Ensure effective design and engineering methods are being used Resolve project issues and problems as they arise Provide technical guidance to coworkers Contribute to a team environment by supporting related project results Ensure alignment between all disciplines involved with 3D CAD for model reviews and deliverables Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the team and communicating project status in meetings Support estimating efforts for project cost and deliverables Conduct QA and QC reviews of all drawings and drawing packages Help prepare complete drawing packages for IFA, IFB, and IFC in accordance with required drawing standards Use the latest version of AutoCAD Demonstrate strong understanding of material nomenclature, specifications, symbology, and P&IDs Utilize document management systems such as Blue Cielo Meridian or equivalent Work collaboratively with project managers, design engineers, and the design team to develop construction drawing packages Understand the function of measurement equipment and process piping Understand industry terminology and acronyms and incorporate them into drawings and related outputs Work on both as built projects and new construction projects as needed
Requirements
- Minimum ten years of electrical design experience in refinery, plant, tank terminals, and similar industrial facilities
- Experience with AutoCAD is required
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work
- Occasional overtime may be required based on project needs
- Occasional travel to local or out of town facilities may be required
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley ControlLogix 1756 and Ethernet IP protocol is a plus
