The Design Technician in the Electrical Engineering Department is responsible for leading the design and development of complex electrical systems and components. This role involves creating detailed technical drawings, performing advanced calculations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with engineers and project teams to optimize designs for functionality and manufacturability.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or related field.
  • Extensive experience with CAD and BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles, power systems, and circuit analysis.
  • Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into detailed technical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex design tasks.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to support junior team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or automation industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and refine electrical system designs, schematics, and layouts using Bluebeam, CAD, Revit, and BIM software.
  • Lead the design of power distribution, lighting, control systems, and other electrical components.
  • Perform advanced calculations, including load analysis, voltage drop, and short-circuit analysis.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC) and project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and design teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to coordinate multidisciplinary designs.
  • Conduct design reviews, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical layouts for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain project documentation, revision records, and assist in developing standard design practices.
