Job Purpose Lead the daily design, operational and administrative functions, including department policy/business process management, process improvement management, organizational/resource management, and preventing/resolving issues to ensure the function group focuses on efficient and effective output.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree or equivalent in related field.
8years related work experience preferably in Powersports or Automotive field.
Knowledge of department operation, policies and practices
Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Strong conflict resolution skills
Ability to interact/communicate effectively with staff/management
Strong problem solving, judgment, decision-making skills
Excellent time management skills
Must be able to operate with high level of confidentiality

Responsibilities

Direct a multi-functional team consisting of several design engineers, controls engineers, and contingents to output key contents such as specifications, confirmation results/judgments, and drawings for concurrent model developments.
Provide leadership to the function group for balancing priorities, overcoming obstacles, aligning expectations with stakeholders, and managing work hours to minimize risks for not achieving targets.
Decide assignments for the entirety of work within the function group, conduct associate performance reviews to provide feedback on results and instruction on personal development, and supply supervisor with input on associate career planning to yield successive leadership.
Actively contribute in the hiring process with the Unit Head to identify/select candidates for maintaining target headcount.
Ensure the function group is communicating and collaborating internally on a regular basis to align output, drive collaboration between design/purchasing on issues that result in improving our cost characteristics, and maintain awareness of topics relevant to their daily work.
Create an environment of strong communication to avoid conflicts and aid in better decision-making.
Represent the function group viewpoint to assist management in discussions related to resource planning, equipment needs, associate matters, and project responsibilities.
Substitute for the department manager occasionally for responsibilities related to travel approvals, timekeeping, and/or facility access to prevent disruptions of business operations.
