About The Position

Thomson Power Systems (TPS) - (a Regal Rexnord company) a leading manufacturer of electrical products and systems for the power generation industry with over 50 years of proven excellence. As we expand into a new facility near Arlington, TX, we're seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer. Reporting directly to the Arlington Plant Manager and based in Arlington, TX, this role is a great opportunity for an individual passionate about technical design and product innovation. To become a pivotal part of Thomson Power Systems' evolution as we grow and continue to evolve our best-in-class design and manufacturing of switchgear and control systems for mission-critical facilities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Technology Diploma in Electrical/Controls or demonstrable equivalent expertise.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the Manufacturing domain.
  • Stellar communication skills in English, encompassing both written and oral dimensions.
  • Fluency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and passport and be available to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship to obtain or keep U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in designing Switchgear, Transfer switches, or Control panels.
  • Knowledge of switchgear design standards and electrical code (UL, CSA, ANSI, NEC).
  • Experience and understanding of complex generator paralleling systems for a variety mission critical applications: data centers, hospitals, airports, oil and gas, mining, remote exploration.
  • .Demonstrated experience in designing Switchgear, Transfer switches, or Control panels.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP software is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Design LV and MV paralleling switchgear and control panels as part of the custom products team.
  • Analyze customer specifications and datasheets, seeking clarifications from sales when necessary.
  • Draft initial electrical diagrams, preliminary materials lists, and technical datasheets for client approval.
  • Finalize comprehensive drawings and detailed bills of materials.
  • Undertake controller programming and configuration.
  • Liaise with sales and production teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Engage actively in product development tasks, including product standardization, innovation, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support production staff during assembly, assisting with interpreting design drawings and providing clarification and support as required.
  • Support product testing in the Test Bay, conduct customer factory witness testing, and if needed visit customer sites.
  • PLC and HMI programming. And assist Test bay with testing and debugging PLC/HMI programs.
  • Contribute to or enhance basic component and product designs, utilizing sound design tools and methodologies.
  • Aid in addressing routine technical issues, demonstrating a strong problem-solving acumen.
  • Help formulate standard test plans based on existing protocols for regular products or components.
  • New Product Development design, project management.
  • Potentially assist in gathering customer feedback and formulating basic product specifications, ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Create and maintain work instructions to define standard work process.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.
