About The Position

The Electrical Design Engineer position is a contract role based in Byron, IL, with a duration of 18 months. The job requires the candidate to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The pay rate is $60.00 per hour, with compensation based on experience and qualifications. The role involves authoring and developing design change packages in accordance with industry design processes, providing design engineering support for nuclear power plant refueling outages, and ensuring compliance with various safety and qualification standards.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Experience in Design Engineering required.
  • Experience in Electrical engineering for industrial plant systems design.
  • Experience in power plant engineering analysis.
  • Proficiency in ETAP or EMTP power systems modelling.
  • Prefer 4 years of experience or more (negotiable).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing designs for Nuclear Reactor Neutron Monitoring Equipment (PRNMs).
  • Experience with Implementation of Measurement Uncertainty Recapture Projects (MUR).
  • Experience with Implementation of Extended or Stretch Type Power Uprates (EPU or SPU).
  • Experience with Implementation of Turbine Replacement Projects (Turbine Retrofits).
  • Experience with Implementation of Nuclear Main Generator Rewind or Replacement Projects.

Responsibilities

  • Author and develop design change packages in accordance with IP-ENG-001 industry design process.
  • Provide design engineering support for nuclear power plant refueling outages.
  • Obtain and retain unescorted nuclear power plant access.
  • Obtain and retain radiological worker qualifications.
  • Adhere to Fitness for Duty Program to maintain unescorted nuclear power plant access.
  • Design major industrial component upgrades within industrial plants.
  • Complete design qualifications with the client.
  • Provide technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs.
  • Consult as a subject matter expert to identify and resolve equipment and system design issues.
  • Perform engineering tasks as assigned by supervision applying technical engineering principles.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work while adhering to design criteria, practices, procedures, and codes.
  • Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of technical projects.
  • Recommend equipment, new concepts, and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
