Join Collins Aerospace as an Electrical Design Engineer and assume a key role within the Vision & Sensor Systems department in Avionics. We’re looking for passionate professionals who will lead the design and development of digital and analog hardware used in General Aviation, Ground-Based Applications, Urban Air Mobility and Unmanned Aircraft applications. These include Ice Detection, Ice Protection, Angle of Attack, Stall Systems, among others. As part of a dynamic and collaborative engineering team, you will contribute across the full product development lifecycle—from concept and architecture through design, integration, and qualification. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

  • Collaborate with Systems, Mechanical, and Software Engineers to ensure successful integration and verification.
  • Interpret and decompose high-level system requirements into actionable electrical design tasks.
  • Support technical documentation, including requirements traceability, analysis reports, and test procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace design and test standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-461, DO-254).
  • Present technical work to internal stakeholders, customers, and certification authorities.
  • Design, analyze, and validate complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
  • Perform circuit simulations and analysis (timing, signal integrity, power, thermal) using tools like PSpice, or equivalent.
  • Design and develop custom harnesses, and cabling to support functional, environmental, and qualification testing.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in circuit design, analysis and results understanding and presentation.
  • Design and analysis tools experience: PSpice, Siemens Mentor Graphics Schematic/Layout design, Siemens Mentor Graphics Signal and Power Integrity, OrCAD Cadence, Timing designer, Siemens NX, AutoCAD Electrical (2D/3D), Creo Parametric.
  • Visio, Excel, Power Point, MS Project experience.
  • Knowledge of aerospace development standards (e.g., ARP4754, AS9100).
  • Experience with configuration management and requirements tools (e.g., DOORS, Agile ACM, JIRA).
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) familiarity.
