We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer, EV Charging. This position will be based in Atlanta GA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Mechatronics.
  • 3+ years of experience with electrical distribution products and systems design and development.
  • Deep knowledge of standard protection and control technologies used in low voltage power distribution products.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking protocols for automation such as CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP.
  • Technical knowledge of the Electrical Products industry and/or Electrical Vehicle Charger Industry with fundamental understanding of NEC standards.
  • Experience with ERP system usage, preference given for experience with SAP.
  • 2+ years of Electrical CAD design/drafting experience using EPLAN or Altium.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (written and verbal skills).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering is a plus with consideration given if degree concentration is in power systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, SAE and NEMA standards for DC Chargers.
  • Knowledge or experience with EMC and EMI protection / certification.
  • Experience with electrical design for DC Electric Chargers.
  • Some experience working with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and C/C++ or Python for Linux based Controllers.
  • Experience working with Linux.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the electrical schematic and PCB design for next-generation EV fast chargers (ranging from 100kW to 1MW), meticulously selecting components and designing circuits.
  • Generate comprehensive documentation such as schematics, wire diagrams, and Bills of Material (BOMs) utilizing industry-standard CAD software like EPLAN and Altium.
  • Ensure designs meet stringent performance, quality, and cost objectives throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Actively support local assembly, oversee prototype builds, and provide critical production support.
  • Collaborate with remote R&D and manufacturing teams to optimize manufacturability, resolve engineering issues, and facilitate the introduction of new DC charging stations.
  • Guarantee product designs rigorously adhere to all applicable agency requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in agency certification and approval processes.
  • Conduct comprehensive engineering assurance evaluations, specifically performing Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Run the selection of critical electrical components to meet performance, quality, and cost requirements for EV charging station technology.
  • Set up new materials and components within the SAP (ERP system) and coordinate closely with procurement for vendor selection.
  • Act as a key member of an international engineering team, fostering effective liaison with R&D, Procurement, Project Management, Product Line Managers, and Manufacturing.
