Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions division (E+ES) is focused on advanced power systems development with emphasis on electrification to provide sustainable power solutions to our customers. The E+ES Battery technology team leads the design and validation of all the new battery systems, including strategy, Simulation, Design, Build and Test/Validation. The Electrical Design Engineer for the Fuel Cell Development team will be responsible for designing and validating electrical systems, selecting components, wire sizing, troubleshooting issues and supporting prototype builds. This is a hands-on role that will have the opportunity to drive innovation in a fast paced environment, supporting the design, testing and integration of new technologies to be used across a wide variety of Caterpillar applications.

  • Design and develop electrical systems and subsystems for electrified platforms.
  • Select hardware components (power electronics, controllers, sensors, connectors, harnesses, etc.) to meet performance, cost, and reliability requirements.
  • Perform wire sizing calculations and develop harness specifications in accordance with applicable standards and safety requirements.
  • Generate and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials (BOM).
  • Support prototyping, integration, and troubleshooting during builds and testing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve electrical issues during development and production.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • Experience in electrical hardware design.
  • Proficiency in hardware component selection, wire sizing, and harness design.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools for schematic and harness design.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting electrical systems during prototype or production builds is a plus.
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis.
  • Ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs.
  • Experience in product design and development.
