About The Position

Responsible for providing high-level electrical support including but not limited to, programming of PLCs from multiple manufacturers (AB, Bosch-Rexroth, Omron), electrical and program troubleshooting, and ongoing project support for manufacturing daily operations and improvements associated with the manufacturing systems. Guides technicians and supervises contractors on-site.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an AS Electronics Technology or a 2-year industrial maintenance or equivalent program and 5 years’ experience with automation and controls equipment including but not limited to AB Control Logix or AB Studio 5000 and at least one other controls platform or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considered a SME of PLC ladder logic, HMI, and Vision system programming.
  • Advanced knowledge of Allen Bradley Studio 5000/RS Logix and Factory Talk Batch.
  • Advanced Knowledge of robotic programming, 24VDC systems and the ability to make modifications to control systems (timers, counters, constants, etc.) required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Electrical safety in both High and Low Voltage Controls.
  • Understanding of networking, including but not limited to setup, communications, and troubleshooting.
  • Minimum Score of 85% on the internal Industrial Electrical Standards Assessment.
  • Must be able to communicate face-to-face and over the phone
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling and reaching, as well as occasional sitting.
  • Work environment includes occasional noise >85db, hot and cold temperatures and some fumes/odors.
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts. and at heights required for the installation of equipment.
  • Requires ability to read write, calculate, interact socially, and reason.
  • Requires good visual acuity with depth perception and color vision.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and in accordance with facility safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Work directly with and provide daily process support to the Operations Team.
  • Provide higher level of technical support for troubleshooting equipment and process related issues as well as continuous improvement of converting processes and equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, plant electrical distribution systems, equipment or process control systems, electrical circuits, motors, and drives.
  • Guide and direct other Technicians in identifying solutions and corrective actions with equipment problems, repairs, and electronic programming.
  • Establish daily schedule of events for technical team with priorities.
  • Manage schedule to address emergency items as needed.
  • Supervise contractors and other Technicians as required.
  • Spearhead the procurement, and development of equipment and process documentation necessary to support the manufacturing operations.
  • Lead troubleshooting tasks, schedule and manage Root Cause Analysis meetings and communications to prevent repeat failures of equipment and processes.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and determine causes to implement necessary repair up to and including program modification, ensuring future equipment reliability.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing processes in effectively managing projects from start to finish
  • Modify existing logic and writing as projects mandate.
  • Able to properly and efficiently train and mentor ECT level I & II associates, utilizing an approved training plan.
  • Function as project liaison between global engineering and plant electrical resources, ensuring that projects are moving efficiently and communication is maintained throughout the project life cycle.
  • Must be flexible in work schedule to support equipment downs or to provide backup shift coverage support on an as needed basis.
