About The Position

The Electrical Controls Specialist will oversee the plant's automated control systems. Their primary responsibility is to maintain and troubleshoot the site's Ignition controls system and assist maintenance with electrical troubleshooting. The overall goal of this position is to keep the plant flow and efficiency running smoothly by ensuring all necessary equipment is available and properly maintained.

  • Experience in programming Allen-Bradley Control Logix, SLC 5’s, and PLC 5’s programmable logic controllers utilizing Rockwell’s RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500 and RSLogix 5 software, including advance program features such as PID loops, message instructions, produce-consume tags, motion instructions, file instructions, compare instructions, and Phase Manager interface
  • Programming Knowledge a must for Wonderware components and trouble shooting
  • Understand operating principles of AC and DC motors, including variable frequency drives (VFD’s), inverters, servo motors
  • Ability to configure VFD’s and servo motor controllers using appropriate software
  • Understand and troubleshoot process instrumentation such as pressure, mass flow, temperature and conductivity sensors and transmitters
  • Experience in installing, troubleshooting and maintaining communication networks such as DeviceNet, ASI, Fieldbus, Modbus, Hart, and Ethernet
  • Experience in installing, troubleshooting and maintaining hardware associated with 480VAC Voltage switchgear, transformers, motors and motor control centers (MCC’s)
  • Advanced skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, CAD/CAM systems and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work and thrive under time constraints and juggle/prioritize responsibilities
  • Analysis & Problem Solving - the ability to collect, assess and interpret relevant information and make sound decisions

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering, or other relevant discipline required

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties safely, follow all safety guidelines, and actively participate in site safety programs
  • Provide relevant training in Arc Flash NFPA 70E requirements and train others in these requirements
  • Confer with team members in other departments to provide technical information
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field
  • Develop long range plans, conceptual designs, and capital outlay requirements and documentation for electrical equipment
  • Formulate and coordinate program specifications, requirements for proposals and contracts, and associated documents
  • Inspect construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications
  • Troubleshoot and determine root cause of faulted process and packaging instrumentation and electrical devices, including programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and associated I/O modules
  • Understand and troubleshoot PLC, human machine interface (HMI), batching systems, and data collection system software
  • Perform software modifications to existing packaging machinery and process system PLC’s, HMI’s, Batching and Data Collection systems
  • Contribute to high Plant OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Identify and implement cost savings
  • Ensure individual and site training/development is up-to-date
  • Manage projects/AFEs on time, as planned and within budget
  • Coordinate Electrical contractors on projects and day to day activities
  • Contribute to Organizational Health KPIs
  • Contribute to KPIs for OurRecipe
  • Demonstrate leadership and contribution to the overall success of SBI
  • Meet timelines and productivity requirements (quantity and quality of work)
