The purpose of this position is to work as a team member to provide the highest level of Engineering Advantage to our customers by improving designs for manufacturing, profitability, performance, quality, and customer requirements on existing and new products; to provide design support on existing products to all departments within the company; to provide evaluation of all ECNs and BOM revisions to drive customer satisfaction and contribute to sales growth. Perform routine processes, which require application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out production sustaining engineering duties, redesign of existing products, and design of new products.

Requirements

  • Ability to design, develop, and implement custom engineered solutions meeting customer product specifications and all industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in electrical control cabinet design, engineering, and oversight; knowledge of UL, NEC, and industry standards.
  • Ability to build, wire, and validate control cabinets and panels.
  • Proficiency in various CAD programs to create models, panel layouts, control cabinet designs, and schematic drawings.
  • Technical expertise in electrical controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), control cabinet systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, start-up, and program automated equipment.
  • Ability to provide technical evaluations and sales support.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (up to 25%).
  • Ability to assist with quoting systems related to controls and control cabinet builds.
  • Problem-solving skills for product integrity issues.
  • Sound engineering judgment for problem solving in design work and production issues.
  • Attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy of engineering designs, control cabinet documentation, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of material.
  • Ability to assist in the design and implementation of verification and validation programs.
  • Research, presentation, and documentation skills for project teams or engineering management.
  • Knowledge and application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Adherence to 5S standards for maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Professional communication and behavior.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%, up to one week at a time).
  • Flexibility to work outside standard weekday hours, including weekends, based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, design, develop, and implement custom engineered solutions meeting customer product specifications and all industry and regulatory requirement
  • Design, engineer, and oversee the building of electrical control cabinets, including component layout, panel design, wiring schematics, and compliance with applicable UL, NEC, and industry standards.
  • Build, wire, and validate control cabinets and panels to ensure functionality, safety, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Effectively utilize various CAD programs to create models, panel layouts, control cabinet designs, and schematic drawings.
  • Serve as the technical expert for electrical controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), control cabinet systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Drive all activities relating to ensuring existing and new equipment is built and operating in accordance with specifications, including troubleshooting, debugging, start-up, and programming of automated equipment and upgrades (internal and/or external equipment).
  • Provide sales support and technical evaluations at customer facilities as they relate to equipment integration and control system design.
  • Provide installation and commissioning support at customer sites and visit customer sites for sales support (approximately 25% travel).
  • Assist sales in the quoting of systems as they relate to controls and control cabinet builds.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product integrity issues with appropriate urgency and within required company timeframes; support VAVE and product transfers.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to problem solving in both design work and production issues.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering designs, control cabinet documentation, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of material on both domestic and global levels.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of verification and validation programs to ensure designs are adequate for their intended purpose.
  • Research requirements, present design options, and document results for project teams or engineering management.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Communicate and behave professionally in support of the organization’s mission, vision, and policies.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%, up to one week at a time).
  • Flexibility to work outside standard weekday hours, including weekends, based on business needs.
