About The Position

Essential Functions: Provide technical expertise to the R&D team to support the design and implementation of new and existing processes to improve process capability and product quality/performance Specify and provide PLC, servo controls, and other programming support for R&D development processes Support implementation of R&D projects into global manufacturing facilities As a global R&D team, work closely with manufacturing, and other internal departments to identify process improvement opportunities and define/conduct R&D trials Interpret customer requirements, review machine specifications, create electrical drawings, and work with internal/external contractors to meet those requirements Work individually and in an R&D team environment to plan project activities, control timing and budget, and provide regular project updates on R&D project activity Specify and support installation of measurement, instrumentation, and inspection systems required for R&D development activities Plan preventative maintenance activities on the R&D development process equipment Provide corrective maintenance to resolve issues with R&D and development center equipment and processes Keep record of electrical drawings and PLC and controls programs Conduct or participate in risk assessments on new and modified equipment Maintain LOTO instructions for the PB2 development furnace and process equipment, review annually, and update as needed Able to travel domestically and internationally to R&D centers, manufacturing plants, supplier, and customer locations Adherence to the NSG/Pilkington safety standards Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles Other duties as assigned by manager Additional Functions: Advise automotive tooling group on heating and create tool heat schematics for New Model programs Scope: Participates in, and supports, global R&D development projects Partners with automotive, as required, to provide technical support for press-bend furnace controls Top 3 Competencies Needed for Success in the Role: Influential – Builds rapport and makes a positive and credible impact Customer Focused – Actively seeks to understand internal and external customer needs and ensures solutions, practices and procedures are designed to assure customer satisfaction Passion for Excellence – Takes personal responsibility and ownership for achieving results and objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with application of electrical controls in a manufacturing environment
  • Programming experience with A-B line of PLCs and controls
  • Proactive, innovative problem-solving skills
  • High energy, self-starting individual with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in MS-Office applications and other software applications
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and communications skills
  • Proficient in the English language (verbal and written)
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR as defined by safety requirements
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally to R&D centers, manufacturing plants, supplier, and customer locations
