The Electrical/Controls Engineer II will provide support to our manufacturing operations to ensure the plant is meeting operational and financial goals. This role will be responsible for evaluating current and future needs for the asset management of plant equipment. This position includes performing unplanned, planned, preventative, predictive and corrective electrical maintenance to core process and auxiliary equipment in a continuous process manufacturing plant. Support the electrical infrastructure, electrical safety, energy management, troubleshoot technical electrical issues, capital project development, project implementation and training site maintenance technicians. This position will report directly to the Plant Engineer.

  • Ability to lead and perform electrical engineering for all aspects of projects with limited guidance.
  • Assist with design, integration, installation, and support of manufacturing equipment, control systems, and data acquisition systems.
  • Modify electrical control circuits and PLC/HMI programs.
  • Work with the maintenance team in troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment, control systems, and data acquisition breakdowns.
  • Partner with Health, Safety, and Environmental team to ensure compliance with standards, practices, and policies.
  • Responsible for maintenance and upgrades for site electrical infrastructure and power distribution.
  • Prepares and reviews project technical electrical specifications for equipment and processes.
  • Ensure designs are implemented with accurate consideration for power management, process data collection systems interfaces.
  • Determine root cause failure analysis and development of corrective action plans.
  • Assist facility with manufacturing operations as well as execution of electrical safety initiatives.
  • Systems analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Development of preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.
  • Maintenance planning and scheduling support.
  • Develop and lead plant expense and capital projects as required.
  • Six Sigma, SPC, Lean, 5S, and TPM applications, sponsorship, and team development.
  • Compliance with all safety/environmental standards, and promotion of safe work practices.
  • Respond to maintenance issues with equipment and control systems in support of a 24/7 operation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in polymer science or textile manufacturing a plus.
  • Practical experience in Allen-Bradley AC variable speed drives.
  • Experience in maintenance, operation, troubleshooting and repair of PLC systems.
  • Solid knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications (including programming).
  • Experience with Industrial Database systems (WonderWare).
  • Experience in Sieman variable speed drives / European control schemes a plus.
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLCs.
  • Experience in VMWare.
  • Knowledge of Servers and Thin Clients technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide solutions to basic project and process engineering problems.
  • Six Sigma Certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the application of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in working collaboratively with internal and external engineering resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in the engineering and implementation of 480V and 4160V Power Distribution Systems.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience in electrical power distribution, equipment, protection and sizing.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in computer applications and analysis of process data.
  • CAD (AutoCAD) experience and ability to read and interpret electrical and control drawings.
  • Ability to visually inspect and troubleshoot electrical/process control systems.
  • Ability to be physically mobile throughout the Spunbond Process.
  • Ability to safety lift material weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel periodically, domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work with extended hours as necessary to complete work assignments.
  • Ability to multi-task.
