This role focuses on troubleshooting, setting up, and testing complete control systems and kits for military, marine, and industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical aptitude, experience with control systems, and the ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment. The position requires working with live electricity, typically low voltage (24VDC) and 120VAC, making attention to safety and detail critical. Familiarity with testing tools such as Fluke meters, power supplies, process meters, and similar equipment is essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of electrical systems, standards, and principles, with the ability to assemble, wire, troubleshoot, and test components, including live low-voltage systems (24VDC and 120VAC).
  • Familiarity with Testing Tools: Proficient in the use of testing equipment such as Fluke meters, power supplies, process meters, and other diagnostic tools to verify and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Signal Testing and Power Systems: Experience testing and calibrating electrical signals and verifying power supply performance under load conditions.
  • PLC Knowledge: Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including the ability to test, troubleshoot, or program PLC-based control systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to Detail: Focus on precision and accuracy to meet high-quality standards in testing and assembly.
  • Time Management: Capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills to support workflow and collaborate across teams.
  • Lean Mindset : Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices, including 5S and waste reduction, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in using basic software tools such as email, spreadsheets, and data entry systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with programming tools or software such as Woodward’s GAP software is a valuable asset.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting & Testing: Set up, test, and troubleshoot complete control systems and electrical kits to ensure functionality and adherence to customer specifications. Work with live electrical systems, including 24VDC and 120VAC, while maintaining strict safety protocols.
  • Electrical Assembly: Assemble and wire electrical components and systems based on schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Identify improvement opportunities and support the training of team members.
  • Signal Testing and Calibration: Test and calibrate analog and digital signals, such as 4-20mA loops, voltage ranges, and resistance measurements. Validate sensor inputs and outputs for accurate system performance.
  • Documentation Skills: Read and interpret technical documentation, such as wiring diagrams, TSPs, I/O lists, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Accurately document findings, test results, and process improvements.
  • Network and Communication Protocols: Test and verify communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or Profibus to ensure proper system integration. Perform basic network troubleshooting as needed.
  • Environmental Testing Knowledge: Test control panel components for environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity, or vibration) to ensure they meet military and marine standards.
  • Power Supply and Load Testing: Test power supplies and verify that control systems can handle required power demands under load conditions. Ensure proper functionality of circuit protection devices, such as fuses and breakers.
  • Customer Interaction: Provide technical support during factory acceptance tests (FATs) or on-site troubleshooting, communicating findings and solutions clearly to customers.
  • Organization & Cleanliness: Apply 5S principles to maintain a clean and organized workstation. Proactively identify and implement organizational improvements.
  • Safety: Promote and adhere to safety protocols when working with live electricity to ensure a secure work environment for yourself and your team.
