This position supports the construction efforts by providing technical support to craft and supervision as well as helping to satisfy quality requirements on the project. Initiate action when necessary to ensure the project is being built as specified in the scope of work. Provide construction engineering and technical support for one or more construction engineering disciplines within an area on large stand-alone projects. Provide construction engineering and technical support to all construction engineering efforts for a specific discipline on small to medium projects.

  • Assist craftsmen, foremen, and project supervision with regard to construction-related issues identified on drawings
  • Provide technical interpretation of design documents in support of construction managers, superintendents, and contractors and provides specific expertise for problem solving activities
  • Coordinate the completion of construction activities in assigned systems and prepares punch lists to ensure the readiness of systems for release for turnover to the client or for start up
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
  • Perform Constructability Reviews on the project
  • Utilize project automation tools
  • Design temporary construction power systems as required
  • Implement project Construction Quality Control requirements including inspection and testing of in-process and completed installations
  • Provide technical oversight of subcontractor's performance of electrical installations
  • Provide technical assistance to the Electrical Superintendent and keeps them informed on matters relating to electrical work
  • Communicate with Design Engineering to understand design requirements and resolve field problems
  • Perform quantity take-offs from design drawings as required and provides input into the project quantity tracking system
  • Prepare field design changes for the project
  • Review the project schedules
  • Develop weekly work schedules as required with the Electrical Superintendents
  • Inspect electrical work in progress and prepare appropriate inspection records
  • Witness tests and completes final test acceptance records before system turnover
  • Assist the Electrical Superintendent in resolving construction issues
  • Verify/report installed electrical quantities weekly
  • Prepare material requisitions for testing equipment, field-procured materials, and temporary construction materials required for the project
  • Monitor the status of material deliveries by maintaining open dialogue with suppliers and fabricators
  • Assist Electrical Superintendent on electrical related problems to obtain vendor information, substitutions, and other design-related issues
  • Coordinate as-built information for electrical installations as required by the contract, specifications, or project procedures
  • Determine the scope of any installations not shown on the design drawings, such as temporary Electrical systems
  • Monitor and expedite off-site material fabrication to coordinate the proper flow of material to the site
  • Develop punchlists and work lists of to-go work for use in completing the electrical installations
  • Perform system/area turnovers including preparation of applicable as built documents and inspection records required by the contract
  • Perform routine inspections of ongoing work activities on a continuous basis and oversee a final check out of rotating and electrical equipment, control wiring circuits, and instrument loop checks prior to turnover to the startup group or the client
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and respond to identified electrical and instrumentation circuitry problems
  • Establish jobsite procedures for documentation of client and vendor witnessing of electrical circuit and equipment testing
  • Issue scoping requirements of raceway, cable, terminations, jumpers, equipment (from system scoping P&IDs) to Supervision System and Facility to support system and facility turnovers
  • Maintain an open dialogue with site and factory vendor representatives to assess requirements and to have proper vendor representatives at the site to support installation, testing, or troubleshooting
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience
  • A recognized certification or registration in the applicable field, if required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Must be able to provide proof of US citizenship
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar computer aided design software
  • Working knowledge and proficient use and development of Excel Spreadsheets
