As an Electrical Commissioning Technician, you will play a crucial role in the commissioning of electrical systems for a high-tech manufacturing facility in Rio Rancho, NM. Your work will support the safe energization and functionality of systems during project startup, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years in electrical commissioning or construction support within high-tech (semiconductor preferred).
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and LOTO standards.
  • Proficient in interpreting one-line diagrams, schematics, and testing documentation.
  • Experience with insulation resistance testing, breaker testing, and functional verification.
  • Understanding of delta vs. wye 3-phase configurations.
  • Ability to detect safety and quality issues before energization.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to a safety-first culture.
  • Journeyman Electrician license or Electrical Engineering qualification required.
  • OSHA 10 is required; NFPA 70E training and valid certification preferred.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve Site Incident Prevention Plans (SIPPs) before system energizations.
  • Perform energizations of circuit breakers, strictly adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Conduct walk-downs and inspections of panels, MCCs, switchgear, and related systems.
  • Coordinate panel shutdowns while maintaining operation of downstream systems.
  • Verify torque settings, terminations, labeling, and grounding integrity before energization.
  • Accurately document commissioning steps and outcomes per project guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Construction, Safety, and Engineering teams.
  • Support field troubleshooting and assist with turnover punch list efforts.
  • Participate in daily commissioning coordination and site safety meetings.
  • Report delays, hazards, or technical issues to the Electrical Discipline Lead or Commissioning Manager.
  • Execute other electrical commissioning tasks as assigned.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to your in your role.
