About The Position

About the job: Kent is looking for an Electrical Commissioning Technician to support the team on a multi-year project based in multiple locations (starting in North Slope, Alaska). Skills and Responsibilities: Responsibilities: Act as mentor and lead/supervise technicians and trainees. Reports to the Electrical Commissioning Lead for planning and execution activities. Communicates with the Electrical Commissioning Lead for Technical Support. Solve problems using a combination of standard procedures, modification of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments and support junior technicians. Set up and operate test equipment and record test data. Able to commission LV Switchgear, GIS MV Switchgear, Power Transformers, Generators, Control Panels, Protection Relays, and transfer schemes, Knowledgeable in protection relays and protection control systems is a plus. Able to read SLDs, Schematics, Block Diagrams, Termination drawings, Multi-Discipline drawings (PID/PFD) and Interconnection Drawings. Carries out electrical equipment installation inspections as per project check sheets. Carries out electrical function test as per project check sheets and procedures. Complete project check sheets activities. Always demonstrate personal HSSE leadership and excellent HSE behaviors and ensure that safety expectations are communicated and maintained. Attend all mandatory training as specified in HSE and Permit to Work training schedule. Ensure submittal of daily check sheets records of testing carried out and completed. Ensure all team members are fully aware and understand all the projects’ safe working practices and adhere to them to maintain a SAFE working environment. Testing of LV & MV distribution boards and circuits Testing of motor control centers, motors, stop/start circuits, and associated overload. Familiar with PIMS System Completions Database is a plus. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: Minimum 5+ years of Commissioning experience. Trained and familiar with System Completions database including B and C check sheets. Knowledge of best practice and procedures in line with large-scale industrial projects. Fully trained in all Safety related subjects outlined by Company such as Environment Concerns, Safe Operations, Emergency Response, JHA, PTW, MOC. Fully trained in Incident & Injury Free and fully understand the expectations, duties, and responsibilities Complete Pre-Commissioning/Commissioning activities as per project procedures. Full understanding of Permit to Work systems, able to sign for work permits, lead the Toolbox Talk and ensure the JHA is fully understood by technicians and trainees. Proficient in interpreting Schematic and Single Line Diagrams. Communication: Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills. Behavior/ Core Competencies: Proficient computer training such as Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Visio. Fully trained in the use of hand tools, operation of test equipment. Knowledge of P&ID and instrument loop diagrams. HSSEQ: The Employee shall observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company; it’s clients and the governing authorities of the host country. Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of Commissioning experience.
  • Trained and familiar with System Completions database including B and C check sheets.
  • Knowledge of best practice and procedures in line with large-scale industrial projects.
  • Fully trained in all Safety related subjects outlined by Company such as Environment Concerns, Safe Operations, Emergency Response, JHA, PTW, MOC.
  • Fully trained in Incident & Injury Free and fully understand the expectations, duties, and responsibilities
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
  • Proficient computer training such as Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Visio.
  • Fully trained in the use of hand tools, operation of test equipment.
  • Knowledge of P&ID and instrument loop diagrams.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable in protection relays and protection control systems is a plus.
  • Familiar with PIMS System Completions Database is a plus.
