About The Position

Responsible for providing engineering and technical support to plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute full life cycle commissioning of complex critical facilities. This position is also responsible for actively participating in the MEP design process, witnessing and/or performing the static and dynamic testing of complex mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, and operating the system in normal, maintenance, and failure modes of operations by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Time management skills.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of commissioning plans.
  • Assists in engineering design reviews.
  • Interprets design and specification.
  • Works with clients, the design team, contractors, and vendors to fully understand scope and design as well as to resolve issues.
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals.
  • Responds to RFI's when requested by PM Team.
  • Develops MEP test procedures.
  • Develops MEP operating procedures.
  • Develops site specific load bank plans.
  • Assists in the development of commissioning schedules.
  • Directs the static and dynamic testing of MEP Systems, with examples that include chiller plants, air handling equipment, pumps, UPS systems, switchgear, and ATS switches.
  • Conducts site observation surveys and prepares field reports on the status of projects and completion of projects with respect to compliance to the plans and specifications.
  • Prepares daily reports, issue logs, and identifies corrective measures for on-site problems affecting commissioning.
  • Follows and obeys all project specific safety requirements, specific on-site regulations, and company specific safety requirements and protocols.
  • Familiarizes oneself with codes, local project regulations, construction practices, and the latest equipment and functional concepts.
  • Performs routine calculations.
  • Acquires, maintains, and encourages other engineers to seek accreditations pertinent to position.
  • Acts as project coordinator with other field engineers and assists the project manager in the reasonable execution of project tasks.
  • Receives instruction from the technical team leader and ensures proper execution of assigned tasks through direct action and or delegation to junior engineers.
  • Assists the technical team leader in the training and mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Participates in professional trade associations and societies.
  • Performs various administrative duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
