About The Position

Odyssey Systems is recruiting to fill an Electrical/Avionics Systems Engineering Support, Journeyman position supporting the Special Operations Forces and Personnel Recovery Division (AFLCMC/WIS), at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. WIS is part of the ISR/SOF Directorate (AFLCMC/WI), which is responsible for equipping our warfighters to win the fight. The Directorate executes a $22 billion acquisition portfolio developing, producing, testing, modifying, fielding, and supporting Air Force ISR and SOF platforms, and related sub-systems.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
  • Clearance: Secret
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a related field and at least three years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, three of which must be in the DoD.
  • OR, seven years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category performance requirements, five of which must be in the DoD.
  • Degree from an ABET-accredited educational program.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying engineering principles through rigorous coursework and hands-on projects aligned with ABET accreditation standards.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering fundamentals, ensuring the ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems.
  • Trained in industry-relevant tools and methodologies, including design, simulation, and testing techniques consistent with ABET curriculum requirements.
  • Experienced in multidisciplinary teamwork and engineering ethics, with a focus on lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
  • Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, technicians, and program managers, to ensure seamless integration of avionics systems.
  • Communicates complex technical concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to support documentation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Adapts quickly to dynamic project environments and client needs, maintaining professionalism and productivity in high-pressure, fast-paced aerospace settings.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, fostering a cooperative work environment and ensuring alignment with project goals and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Apply multidisciplinary engineering expertise to support system development, trade studies, technical advisory services, and lifecycle sustainment.
  • Resolve complex technical and maintenance issues across design, development, modification, and sustainment programs.
  • Conduct technical analyses and evaluations of design alternatives, system changes, and integration risks to support informed decision-making.
  • Review and validate engineering specifications, ICDs, technical data, manuals, and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Prepare and review system requirements, engineering changes, and baseline updates; develop technical justifications and feasibility assessments.
  • Support airworthiness determinations, MFR development, MIL-HDBK-516 compliance, and ensure OSS&E standards are met.
  • Provide technical direction for propulsion systems, electronic sensors, and defensive avionics to ensure performance and survivability.
  • Translate user needs into system requirements; support CDD/CPD development, architecture reviews, and interoperability assessments.
  • Participate in and document outcomes from TIMs, design reviews (PDR, CDR, FDR), TPWGs, and interface working groups.
  • Support source selections and develop engineering inputs for PWSs, RFPs, CDRLs, and acquisition strategies.
  • Serve as an Electrical Engineer on multispecialty teams supporting aircraft R&D, production, acquisition, and sustainment.
  • Evaluate electrical systems, ground support equipment, and support equipment requirements; analyze test data and system performance.
  • Review and recommend engineering changes, assess non-conformance reports, OEM failure analyses, and develop corrective actions.
  • Support mishap investigations and act as liaison between USAF safety boards and OEMs; perform risk assessments and mitigation planning.
  • Assist with R&M project oversight, parts procurement planning, and coordination with Equipment Specialists to address TO and support impacts.
